Yale Adult and Pediatric Integrative Medicine

Integrative Medicine is the practice of medicine that reaffirms the importance of the relationship between practitioner and patient, focuses on the whole person, is informed by evidence, and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches, healthcare professionals and disciplines to achieve optimal health and healing. At Yale Adult and Pediatric Integrative Medicine, we combine mainstream medicine with complementary therapies that are safe and effective. Clinical Services include integrative medicine evaluations, naturopathic medicine, evaluation of dietary supplements, nutritional counseling, exercise/fitness/weight loss, and expert guidance regarding complementary and alternative therapies for a variety of conditions. The clinic is directed by Ather Ali, ND, MPH, MHS.

Integrative Medicine at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven

Smilow Cancer Hospital’s approach to integrative medicine provides evidence-based guidance about complementary therapies commonly used by cancer patients and survivors. We work to complement your treatment and address the serious physical and emotional symptoms often experienced by patients before, during, and after therapy, and to avoid interactions with conventional cancer care. Our team has expertise in the practice and evaluation of complementary medicine, which can guide patients to make effective decisions on integrative therapies throughout their treatment program and beyond. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction at the Yale Stress Center

The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course, developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is a comprehensive 8-week course in the practice and theory of mindfulness. MBSR is a widely-studied, evidence-based intervention that has shown to be helpful in reducing stress levels as well as specific clinical symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. The course meets for two hours per week and includes a half-day retreat on a weekend. Participants receive a binder of educational materials and four guided home practices. This course is offered throughout the year at the Yale Stress Center. More details can be found here.
